Flamengo in Talks for Argentine Midfielder Thiago Almada, Director Confirms

Flamengo is actively pursuing Argentine midfielder Thiago Almada, with the club's football director, José Boto, confirming ongoing negotiations. However, Boto cautioned that no agreement has been reached, stressing that any potential transfer must align with the club's financial capabilities.

"It is true that we are interested in Thiago. It is true that we are in conversations with him. Nothing is closed, the player has not yet given the 'yes'," Boto stated in an interview with Paparazzo Rubro-Negro. He added, "If he comes, it will be under the conditions we want. We do not have an oil well to spend money that does not exist. We are working on it, but there is no agreement."

Despite acknowledging interest from other clubs, Boto expressed confidence in Flamengo's ability to secure Almada. The Brazilian club is reportedly working on finalizing a verbal agreement with Almada's representatives and is now focused on negotiating terms with Atlético de Madrid. Almada, who has struggled for playing time at Atlético de Madrid, has reportedly rejected offers from Russian and Arab leagues and was previously linked with a move to River Plate.

Flamengo is simultaneously working on signing two additional players to strengthen their squad. Boto urged patience from fans, assuring them that reinforcements will arrive without overpaying. The club aims to improve the current roster while maintaining financial prudence.
