Flávio Bolsonaro announces Claudio Lottenberg as Health Minister in potential government

Presidential candidate Flávio Bolsonaro has announced that Dr. Claudio Lottenberg will be his choice for Health Minister should he win the upcoming election. The declaration was made during a televised interview on Globo, where Bolsonaro outlined his vision for the health sector.

Bolsonaro described Lottenberg, a physician with significant experience in hospital management, as a crucial figure for modernizing Brazil's Unified Health System (SUS). He expressed his intention to integrate successful practices from the private healthcare sector into the public system.

During the interview, Bolsonaro emphasized that healthcare would be a top priority for his administration. He pointed to existing problems within the SUS, including a lack of available doctors at primary care units and difficulties in obtaining necessary medications, as critical issues that need immediate attention.

Lottenberg, an ophthalmologist, has a distinguished career in healthcare administration. He served as president of the Hospital Israelita Albert Einstein for 15 years and currently chairs its Deliberative Council. He also leads the Health Coalition Institute and the Confederação Israelita do Brasil (Conib).

Bolsonaro publicly thanked Dr. Lottenberg for accepting the challenging role, underscoring the importance of the Health Ministry in addressing the current difficulties faced by SUS users. The candidate reiterated his commitment to improving healthcare access and quality for all Brazilians.
