Flávio Bolsonaro calls for the “sword of justice” in Brasília during service featuring Mendonça video

Flávio Bolsonaro asked God to take his “sword of justice” to Brasília’s Three Powers Square during a service at the World Church of God’s Power in São Paulo. The ceremony featured a video from Supreme Federal Court Justice André Mendonça, recorded in March, thanking the church for its support during his confirmation hearing.

The PL presidential candidate attended the service in the Brás district alongside São Paulo Governor Tarcísio de Freitas, who is seeking re-election, and São Paulo Senate candidate Guilherme Derrite. From the pulpit, Flávio prayed for his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, and asked God to “drive every evil spirit away from this country.”

Church founder Apostle Valdemiro Santiago presented Mendonça’s video, which lasted slightly more than a minute and had been recorded for the institution’s 28th anniversary rather than specifically for Monday’s service. Worshippers applauded after the screening. Valdemiro then said, “Go forward, do not give up.”

The video was shown amid a dispute between Mendonça and Justice Alexandre de Moraes. The previous week, Moraes used the fake-news inquiry to accuse his colleague of administrative misconduct, abuse of authority and a crime of responsibility. Mendonça, the rapporteur in the Banco Master case, had also lifted the secrecy from a Federal Police report containing 51 messages between Moraes and banker Daniel Vorcaro, the bank’s former controller.

Flávio praised Valdemiro and spoke about his family during the service. The article also noted that he did not mention accounting for the film Dark Horse after Piauí reported that Vorcaro made an additional payment to finance it beyond the amount the senator had acknowledged.
