Sources close to Nogueira, however, express skepticism about the likelihood of formal support for Bolsonaro's party. It is considered more probable that the PP-União federation will be granted the autonomy to support candidates of their choice in various states.

One of Bolsonaro's potential leverage points is the political situation in Piauí, Nogueira's home state. In Piauí, the PL party has withdrawn its gubernatorial candidacy to support the PP's slate, with Nogueira himself seeking re-election. During the convention in São Paulo, Bolsonaro's public praise for PP federal deputy Simone Marquetto, who has been mentioned as a potential running mate, and for Nogueira himself, underscored his efforts to court the federation's support.
