Flávio Bolsonaro Writes Letter to Father, Crying Over Father's Day Visit Ban

Senator Flávio Bolsonaro penned a letter to his father, former President Jair Bolsonaro, expressing his deep distress over being prohibited from visiting him on Father's Day. The restriction was issued by Supreme Court Minister Alexandre de Moraes, who has imposed significant limitations on the former president's contact with his family.

In his letter, Flávio Bolsonaro lamented the "inhumane, insane, unjust, and sad" nature of the prohibition, stating, "To prohibit a son from visiting a father, or a father from hugging his children, on Father's Day is inhumane, is insane, is unjust, is sad..."

This comes after Minister Moraes rejected a request for Flávio, Carlos, and Jair Renan to visit Jair Bolsonaro on Sunday. The defense team had sought an exceptional authorization, citing the "strictly humanitarian and family" nature of the visit. Moraes, however, reiterated that family visits have been suspended since July 17.

Flávio Bolsonaro himself is under a more extended restriction. Moraes prohibited him from visiting his father for 90 days after Flávio publicly read a letter from the former president on July 11 and announced its dissemination on social media. Moraes deemed this action a violation of Jair Bolsonaro's house arrest conditions, which include prohibitions on using cell phones, the internet, and social media, even through third parties.

Despite these challenges, Flávio Bolsonaro also conveyed optimism regarding his presidential candidacy. He stated that he and Rogério Marinho have secured support from key leaders across most states, even without formal endorsements from centrist parties. "Even though the centrist parties have not formally supported us, the main leaders of all of them are with us!" he wrote.

The 90-day restriction on Flávio's visits is set to conclude after the first round of the presidential election on October 4. In his letter, he expressed his longing to hear his father's voice, laughter, and "unfunny jokes," while maintaining faith that "no evil lasts forever" and that they are being "capacitated for something much greater in our lives."
