‘Flight dropped 300 feet’: Woman recalls terrifying Air India Phuket-Delhi flight turbulence

A passenger on an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi described a terrifying experience with severe turbulence, during which the aircraft reportedly dropped approximately 300 feet. Shilpi Jain, who was seated in 23F, shared a video on Instagram recounting the incident, stating that numerous passengers and cabin crew members sustained injuries.

The flight coming from Phuket to Delhi had quite a few passengers injured and cabin crew also got injured. I was on that flight too.

Jain described the chaotic moments inside the cabin, with passengers being thrown around and hitting the ceiling. While she commended the cabin crew for their support during the ordeal, she alleged that they discouraged passengers from recording or sharing videos of the incident, citing potential damage to the airline's reputation. She also questioned the decision to continue the flight to Delhi instead of making an emergency landing at a closer airport.

Crew members supported quite well, which I appreciate. But they told us not to make videos and share them anywhere, as it could harm our reputation.

Upon landing at Delhi airport, Jain claimed that injured passengers experienced significant delays in receiving medical attention. Instead of stretchers, she observed that injured individuals were transported via wheelchairs. The incident has sparked discussion among users online, with some defending the unpredictability of turbulence and praising the crew's efforts to ensure a safe landing, while others questioned the airline's handling of the aftermath and passenger care.
