‘Several heads hit overhead bins, baby hurt’: Air India Phuket-Delhi flight passengers recall horror

Passengers aboard an Air India flight from Phuket to Delhi recounted a terrifying experience of severe mid-air turbulence that left 14 people injured.

The incident occurred on flight AI2379 when the aircraft experienced a sudden change in altitude. Passengers described being jolted awake as the plane dropped sharply, causing some to hit their heads against overhead bins. A baby was also reported to have sustained injuries during the ordeal.

Another added, "We were sleeping since it was a morning flight when the aircraft suddenly stopped before taking a turn. It kept turning around. Several passengers were injured in the incident. A baby was also hurt. I also hurt my back."

Despite the harrowing experience, Air India confirmed that the aircraft landed safely in Delhi, and all passengers and crew disembarked without further incident. The injured individuals are currently receiving treatment at Medanta Hospital and the India Spinal Injury Centre in Gurugram.
