Flogas to Raise Electricity and Gas Prices in July

Flogas, a utility provider, has announced significant increases to its electricity and gas prices, which will take effect from July 20. The price hikes will impact customers on standard variable price plans, with residential electricity bills set to rise by 10.9% and gas bills by 11.8%.

These increases translate to an additional €4.11 per week for electricity and €3.47 per week for gas for affected customers. Flogas clarified that customers currently on fixed-rate contracts will not be affected by these changes. The company cited ongoing volatility in global energy markets, exacerbated by geopolitical tensions and sustained market pressures, as the primary reasons for the necessary adjustments.

Ken O'Byrne, Commercial Director at Flogas, acknowledged that the price increases are unwelcome, especially given the current cost of living challenges. He emphasized the company's efforts to absorb costs and protect customers for as long as possible. "However, given the continued volatility in energy markets driven by the ongoing geopolitical tensions, we are now unfortunately unable to delay this increase any further," O'Byrne stated.

Despite the price hikes, Flogas reiterated its commitment to supporting its customers. This includes offering energy efficiency advice, flexible payment options, budget management tools, and access to targeted assistance for those in need. The company also pledged to continue monitoring market conditions for future opportunities to provide value.

This Flogas price increase follows similar announcements from other Irish energy providers. Electric Ireland recently announced an 8% rise in electricity prices and a 7.7% rise in gas prices from July 1. PrePayPower also implemented a price increase in early May, and Energia and SSE Airtricity raised their residential energy prices in late 2025.
