Floods in NTT: 111 Dead, 176,621 Displaced

The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the death toll from the earthquake in Flores, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) has risen to 111 people. Berton SP Panjaitan, acting head of BNPB's Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, stated that six additional indirect casualties were recorded, bringing the total to 111.

Currently, there are an additional 6 deaths, bringing the total to 111, and these are all indirect casualties.

Four of the additional deaths occurred in Manggarai Regency, and two in Manggarai Timur Regency. The majority of fatalities, 56.4 percent, were women. By age group, 45 percent of the victims were elderly.

The number of displaced people due to the NTT earthquake has reached 176,621. This figure represents a decrease from the previous day's total of 179,037, with a significant drop observed in Sikka Regency.

As of August 27, the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) recorded 8,193 aftershocks, 146 of which were felt by the public. Berton noted that due to the magnitude 7.7 main shock, aftershocks are expected to continue for the third and fourth weeks after the initial event.

According to BMKG, because the earthquake was magnitude 7.7, which is quite large, aftershocks are expected to continue until the third and fourth week since the main earthquake occurred.
