Reaching Unassisted Residents, Dompet Dhuafa Distributes Aid in Red Onion Hamlet

Dompet Dhuafa is continuing its humanitarian efforts by distributing essential supplies to survivors affected by recent events in East Manggarai Regency, Indonesia. On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, the organization's Disaster Management Center (DMC) delivered basic food packages to Red Onion Hamlet in West Satar Punda Village, North Lambaleda District.

The distribution focused on reaching residents in areas that had been difficult to access. Barqu Sudjai, a member of the DMC Response Team, highlighted that Red Onion Hamlet and surrounding areas like Jongkoe and Batu Hedok had not yet received substantial humanitarian aid. This was due to the challenging terrain, characterized by hilly, remote, and steep roads, making access difficult for aid workers.

Approximately 100 residents benefited from the food package distribution. In addition to logistical support, Dompet Dhuafa's Free Health Services (LKC) also provided medical assistance in Red Onion Hamlet. The area has been experiencing ongoing aftershocks since the initial earthquake, causing trauma among displaced residents. Health teams offered medical care and psychological support to those affected by the tremors and the subsequent displacement.

As of August 26, 2026, the disaster has impacted a significant number of people, with 179,037 individuals displaced. The data indicates 1,678 survivors sustained injuries, and 105 lives were lost. The earthquake also caused widespread damage to infrastructure, including 81,436 homes, 1,378 schools, 216 health facilities, four markets, and 498 offices. Dompet Dhuafa's ongoing response has reached 10,207 individuals with various forms of aid, including food, health services, search and rescue, education, and psychosocial support.
