Florida subpoenas Dr. Anthony Fauci over alleged pandemic profiteering

Florida's government has issued a judicial subpoena to Dr. Anthony Fauci, a key figure in the U.S. COVID-19 response, as part of a state investigation into his pandemic management. The subpoena seeks extensive documentation concerning his knowledge, decision-making, and alleged personal financial benefits derived from pandemic-related activities.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier stated the investigation focuses on awards, incentives, and directives issued by Fauci that impacted state residents and businesses. Uthmeier specifically mentioned seeking information on Fauci's "doubts about the safety and efficacy of the vaccines he was promoting" and alleged he was "trying to profit" through editorial contracts and relationships with wealthy individuals.

He faced scrutiny during a recent Senate hearing, where he invoked the Fifth Amendment, the right to remain silent, on 111 occasions when questioned by Senator Rand Paul. Uthmeier suggested that Fauci's actions could constitute deceptive business practices, fraud, or public harm under Florida law.

In addition to Florida's investigation, Fauci is reportedly facing inquiries from Alabama and Louisiana. Senator Rand Paul has also indicated plans to pursue contempt charges against Fauci for his refusal to testify fully.
