FM affirms necessity of continuing efforts aimed to stabilize Gaza

Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty emphasized the ongoing need to stabilize the Gaza Strip and advance a peace plan during a call with Gaza envoy Nickolay Mladenov. The discussion, held on Sunday, August 9, 2026, focused on implementing the US president's peace roadmap.

The importance of continuing efforts to stabilize the Gaza Strip and create conditions to transition to the peace plan’s next phase.

Abdelatty stressed commitment to all agreed obligations. These include ensuring full, safe, and sustainable humanitarian aid access and completing the Israeli withdrawal. These steps are crucial for transitioning to the peace plan's next phase and supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

The Egyptian diplomat also highlighted the importance of enabling the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza (NCAG) to assume its temporary duties from within the Strip. Discussions included arrangements for deploying an International Stabilization Force. This force would monitor the ceasefire, bolster security during the transitional phase, and maintain Palestinian territorial unity until the Palestinian National Authority takes full responsibility in Gaza and the West Bank.
