Food Council members to be disbanded: format encouraged discussion, but goals were too ambitious

Lithuania’s Food Council is being wound down and replaced by a broader collegium under the Agriculture Ministry, a decision that has drawn mixed views from council members.

They agree that dialogue among the different parts of the food sector remains necessary. However, they say the council pursued goals that were too ambitious and lacked the authority to deliver concrete results because it served only in an advisory capacity.
