Food reviewer reveals secret to beating queues at popular Vilnius cafe

Donatas Karklius, a Lithuanian food reviewer known for his positive-only reports and a following of 147,000 on social media, revealed the secret to avoiding long queues at the popular Vilnius cafe "Lola." He admitted to initially giving up after three attempts due to the persistent lines, a frustration for the impatient reviewer.

Do you want to know why we only got into this cafe on the fourth try? Because every time we arrived, we were met with queues, and I am a very impatient person.

However, Karklius learned from cafe staff that arriving after 1 p.m. offers a much quicker entry. Once seated, his family explored the menu, with Karklius ordering Turkish eggs for 13.50 EUR and his wife opting for the "Lola" club sandwich at 12.50 EUR. Their daughters shared a 12 EUR portion of fried curd cheese dumplings, and the elder daughter also enjoyed a 3.80 EUR cinnamon bun, which was large enough for the adults to share.

Describing the food, Karklius noted the dishes were light and not overloaded, featuring pleasant details and a subtle Eastern-inspired spice blend. He found the Turkish eggs "fantastic," though he mused about adding chorizo next time for a fuller flavor profile. The club sandwich, praised for its homemade focaccia and abundant vegetables, was also deemed flawless, with its texture and construction allowing distinct flavors and aromas to emerge.

The family's lunch totaled 55.40 EUR. Karklius concluded that the cafe is "definitely worth a visit," a sentiment echoed by his positive review of the breakfast menu and the overall dining experience.
