Football Bundesliga: HSV's start - squad far from complete

Hamburger SV has kicked off its preparations for the upcoming football season, with players reporting for performance diagnostics at the Athleticum am Volkspark. This marks the beginning of their training for the second season after their promotion in 2025, with just over seven weeks having passed since the end of the previous season.

The team's first training session will take place in Helsingör, Denmark, where they will stay until Saturday as part of their initial training camp. Following this, they will return for a training session at Volkspark stadium next Monday. A second preparatory camp is scheduled from July 19 to July 25 in Oberlängenfeld, Austria.

However, the squad is far from complete at the start of this preparation phase. The only new official signing so far is defender Kofi Amoaka, 21, from Dynamo Dresden. Albert Grönbaek, 25, has been permanently signed from Stade Rennes after a successful loan spell last season. Several key players, including Miro Muheim and Sander Tangvik, are currently with their national teams for the World Cup and will join the team later. Sturm talent Otto Stange is also participating in the U19 European Championship with German junior teams. Nicolas Capaldo is set to rejoin the team on Thursday after being with the Argentinian national team prior to the World Cup, though he was not selected for the tournament.

HSV anticipates numerous new additions before the transfer window closes on September 1, as they aim to strengthen the team for the challenges ahead.
