Footballer's son hospitalized after store rampage, street fight

Toto Dumitrescu, the actor son of former Romanian football star Ilie Dumitrescu, was admitted to the Alexandru Obregia Psychiatric Hospital after causing a significant disturbance. The incident reportedly began Tuesday evening when Dumitrescu entered a store in Bucharest's Sector 4 and allegedly destroyed and overturned numerous products.

Following the store incident, Dumitrescu is said to have engaged in an argument with his partner on the street. Police were alerted via a 112 call around 6 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found Dumitrescu agitated and uncooperative. To prevent further incidents, they restrained him and transported him to the hospital, where medical staff ordered his admission.

Authorities identified the woman involved as Dumitrescu's partner. She reportedly declined to press charges, did not request a protection order, and refused risk assessment or medical attention. Police have initiated a criminal case ex officio, investigating charges of disturbing public order and domestic violence. This incident follows a previous legal issue for Dumitrescu, who received a suspended prison sentence in April 2026 for leaving the scene of a traffic accident in September 2025.
