Forest Fire in Manisa Brought Under Control After Intensive Air and Ground Response

A forest fire in Manisa’s Soma district was brought under control after a rapid response that mobilized aircraft, helicopters, firefighting vehicles, public institutions and volunteers.

The fire began at 12:50 in Cenkyeri. Crews responded with six aircraft, six helicopters, 16 fire engines, two firefighting vehicles, eight water tankers and one first-response vehicle. The operation continued under the coordination of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

The Manisa Governorship said the blaze was contained quickly because authorities had closely monitored forest fires and implemented preventive measures. The governorship thanked Agriculture and Forestry Minister İbrahim Yumaklı, firefighters, aerial support teams, gendarmerie units, public institutions and volunteers involved in the response.

The statement also highlighted preparations, training and guidance carried out under the province’s Fire Risk Reduction Plan, coordinated through district administrations. It stressed the importance of preparation and solidarity in responding to disasters, and said precautionary work would continue around Soma. The governorship summed up its message with the words, "Protecting the Green Homeland is our shared responsibility."

Meanwhile, crews continued fighting another forest fire in Bursa’s Orhaneli district. The fire broke out for an unknown reason in woodland between the Perçin and Balıoğlu neighbourhoods. Bursa Regional Forestry Directorate teams deployed four helicopters, eight fire engines, two water tankers, two bulldozers and 76 personnel to contain it.
