Forest fire rages in Çanakkale, Turkey, spreading rapidly

A forest fire erupted on Sunday afternoon near the villages of Muratlar and Hacıbekirler in the Bayramiç district of Çanakkale, Turkey. The blaze began around 3:45 PM local time and has been rapidly spreading due to strong winds.

Authorities have dispatched numerous teams from the Çanakkale Regional Directorate of Forestry to combat the fire. Both aerial and ground crews are actively involved in the firefighting operations.

Çanakkale Governor Ömer Toraman provided an update via his social media account, detailing the resources deployed. According to his statement, the response includes six helicopters, four aircraft, 22 fire-fighting vehicles (arazöz), five fire trucks, and four bulldozers working to control the flames.

The rapid spread of the fire has raised concerns about its potential impact on the surrounding forest and communities. Efforts are focused on containing the blaze and preventing further escalation.
