Forestry sector seeks to consolidate growth with new Expo Madera edition

Paraguay's forestry sector is poised for further consolidation and growth, fueled by increasing investments and the establishment of new related industries. This expanding potential is the focus of Expo Madera Paraguay 2026, organized by the Paraguayan Federation of Woodworkers (Fepama).

Under the theme “Expanding Forests, Valuable Industries,” the sixth edition of Expo Madera aims to highlight the sector's progress and convene stakeholders. Fepama President Diego Puente emphasized Paraguay's "historic opportunity" to become an "undisputed reference" in the regional forest economy and a global strategic player. He noted the growing worldwide demand for renewable materials, efficient production, and low-carbon solutions, positioning Paraguay to meet these needs.

Puente stressed the importance of maximizing value within Paraguay by transforming wood into high-quality, innovative, and technologically competitive products for demanding international markets. This objective is central to the Expo Madera's theme. The event serves as the primary meeting point for Paraguay's forest-industrial sector, fostering alliances among producers, companies, technology providers, investors, and institutions.

A significant highlight of this year's expo is the participation of companies and organizations from Sweden, a global leader in forestry. A Swedish trade mission, coordinated by Business Sweden and led by Country Manager Jesper Bernhdsson, will attend. Fepama General Manager Shirley Zavala outlined the fair's structure around three core areas: Forests, Industry, and Market, including forums, high-level panels, business meetings, a scientific research competition, and technical demonstrations.
