Former Aalborg player banned for two years over cocaine use

Danish ice hockey is facing a doping scandal after American player Tyler Farmer received a two-year ban for cocaine use. Anti Doping Denmark announced the suspension following the discovery of cocaine traces in a sample Farmer provided on December 27. At the time of the test, Farmer was under contract with Aalborg Pirates, though he had since left the club.

Farmer reportedly told Anti Doping Denmark that he was at a bar in Aalborg with teammates two days before the test. He stated he consumed two to three drinks paid for by others and some beers earlier in the evening. He became ill and vomited, requiring teammates to escort him home. Although he suspected his drinks may have been spiked, Farmer did not inform Anti Doping Denmark of this suspicion when he was tested.
