Former anchor Zhu Yongwei pays tribute to journalists and recalls her 20s

Former CTS news anchor Zhu Yongwei marked Journalists’ Day by sharing photos of herself at the news desk in her 20s. “So this is what I looked like in my 20s,” she wrote.

So this is what I looked like in my 20s.

Looking back at the morning-news footage, Zhu said she wondered why she had dressed like someone in her 40s. She pointed to the burgundy suit, brooch and shoulder pads, along with the distinctly dated “Latest This Morning” graphics.

The work itself was demanding. With the morning news going on air at 7, she remembered taking a taxi at 5 a.m. to reach the station, get her hair and makeup done, change clothes and review the top of the news script. Sometimes she had to apply her own makeup, and she now notices that her false eyelashes did not always stick properly.

Why did I dress like someone in her 40s when I was in my 20s?

At the time, she said, she did not think of those days as youth. She only felt tired. Looking back, she realized that leaving home at 5 a.m. and taking her place at the anchor desk at 7 was precisely what her youth had been. She ended the post by paying tribute to journalists.
