Taiwan's National Day Gala to Take Place in New Taipei on October 9

Taiwan's National Day gala will return to New Taipei City on October 9, with organizers promising a large celebration built around the theme "The World's Stage, Gathering in Taiwan."

The event will begin at 6 p.m. at Banqiao First Stadium and will bring together performers from Taiwan and overseas, along with diverse performance groups. New Taipei Mayor Hou You-yi said he wanted audiences to see Taiwan's cultural soft power, as well as New Taipei's growth, and to help more people internationally get to know Taiwan.

Hou said the gala was being held in New Taipei through cooperation between central and local authorities. Banqiao First Stadium was chosen because it is easily accessible and includes a colorful corridor symbolizing equality in sports. The stadium has also undergone a full renovation and had not hosted a large gala for many years.

He invited New Taipei residents and people from across Taiwan to attend and celebrate the Republic of China's National Day. Other programs in New Taipei will include the Fantasy City event in Banqiao, a Hakka Yimin Lord cultural festival at the Citizens' Plaza, and activities connected with the Tamsui River Bridge, the Sanying light rail line, the New Taipei City Art Museum and the New Taipei City Yingge Ceramics Museum.

A flag-raising ceremony on the morning of October 10 will be held at the soon-to-open Sanchong Second Administrative Center, Hou said.
