Former Defense Counterintelligence Commander Arrest Warrant Denied... 'Room to Dispute Charges'

A court has rejected the arrest warrant for former Defense Counterintelligence Command chief Hwang Yu-seong, who faces allegations of concealing information related to "VIP rage" in connection with the death of Corporal Chae Su-geun. The Seoul Central District Court's warrant judge stated that the charges are debatable and there is no apparent risk of Hwang fleeing or destroying evidence. The court's decision also applied to Moon Yeon-cheol, former head of the Defense Counterintelligence Command's investigation unit. Both men are accused of obstructing justice by attempting to suppress information about the alleged "VIP rage" incident during the handling of the Chae Su-geun case. The special prosecution team is expected to review the court's reasoning before deciding on further action, including potential indictments.
