Former Deputy Attorney General Named Money Laundering Suspect, Detained by KPK

Former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah, has been named a suspect in a money laundering case by the Attorney General's Office and will be detained for 20 days at the Corruption Eradication Commission's detention center. The Attorney General's Office for Supervision, Rudi Margono, stated that the alleged money laundering was committed by Adriansyah in his capacity as a prosecutor or structural official during his tenure.

Margono did not elaborate on the specific case that Adriansyah allegedly misused, citing that further details would hinder the ongoing investigation and proof process. Adriansyah was interrogated by the Attorney General's Office's Team 9 for ten hours, from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. Upon exiting, he was not wearing a detention vest but a gray batik shirt. Margono explained the rush to detain Adriansyah due to the late hour.

Adriansyah asserted that he should not have been named a suspect or detained. He argued that investigators should have confirmed and thoroughly examined all evidence used against him. He also stated that multiple case reviews should have been conducted before designating someone as a suspect and detaining them. "But this has been the leadership's decision. I am ready to face it, and I feel this is criminalization," Adriansyah said as he was escorted to the detention car at the Attorney General's Office building on Friday, July 24, 2026.
