Former Health Minister Rogobete Mocks Premier Bolojan From Operating Room Over Energy-Saving Calls

Former Romanian Health Minister Alexandru Rogobete launched a sharp critique of interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan from an unusual location: an operating room. The attack came amidst government appeals to reduce energy consumption due to an energy alert.

In a Facebook video filmed during surgery, Rogobete questioned the practicality of saving energy in hospitals. "We told you a few days ago to turn off the lights. Here, we turned them off. What do we do now? Operate in the dark? Should I bring my colleagues a candle to perform surgery by candlelight?" he asked, as quoted by Adevărul.

Rogobete accused the acting prime minister of issuing contradictory directives. "Mr. interim prime minister, sometimes you turned the lights on... sometimes you turned them off. You are the interim minister of Energy, and I believe you have consumed all the electricity chasing imaginary rats," Rogobete stated, directly addressing Bolojan.

The former minister concluded by shifting the focus from hospital energy consumption to the mismanagement of health funds. "I think the light needs to be turned on elsewhere, stop looking in the pockets of doctors and nurses. That's not where the losses in the health system are. Billions in health are at the National Health Insurance House. Turn on the light there, you will find the tens of billions that are lost annually from the system," he urged.
