Former Indonesian Attorney General Official Investigated for Money Laundering

Febrie Adriansyah, the former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes, appeared before the special investigative team of the Attorney General's Office on Friday to face questioning in a money laundering case. The investigation is linked to the discovery of 74 kilograms of gold and hundreds of billions of rupiah at his residence in Sentul, Bogor.

Anang Supriatna, Head of the Legal Information Center at the Attorney General's Office, confirmed Adriansyah's presence, stating he arrived at 1:00 PM WIB and was undergoing examination. Media personnel stationed outside the Attorney General's Office did not witness his arrival, as he reportedly entered through the building's basement.

Adriansyah is being questioned as a witness based on an investigation order dated July 20, 2026. This order was issued after prosecutors received case files and evidence, including the gold and cash, from the police. The Attorney General's Office has also issued three other investigation orders related to Adriansyah, concerning alleged corruption and money laundering at PT Krakatau Steel, coal management corruption at a power plant, and the PT Asabri case, in which Adriansyah is already a suspect designated by the police.

Hotman Paris Hutapea, Adriansyah's lawyer, has vehemently denied all accusations against his client. Hutapea also raised concerns about the legality of Adriansyah's suspect status, arguing it violates the Criminal Procedure Code as he was not summoned and questioned prior to the designation. Hutapea claimed Adriansyah is highly regarded by President Prabowo Subianto for his contributions to state revenue while serving as Jampidsus and Head of the Task Force for Forest Area Control. Hutapea has since withdrawn as Adriansyah's lawyer.
