Former Manas mayor to join Kyrgyzstan's State Development Bank board

Abdupata Matkalikov, who recently served as the mayor of the city of Manas, is slated to become a member of the Board of Directors for the State Development Bank of Kyrgyzstan OJSC. This appointment signifies a shift in his public service career following his recent departure from the mayoral office.

Matkalikov's candidacy for the board position has been approved by the Zhogorku Kenesh's parliamentary committee responsible for budget, economic, and fiscal policy. This endorsement suggests confidence in his financial and administrative capabilities for the role at the state development institution.

His transition comes shortly after his dismissal as mayor of Manas by presidential decree. Matkalikov had held the mayoral position for only four months, having been appointed on February 20, 2026. The former mayor, who is 62 years old and an engineer by profession, will now lend his experience to the strategic direction of the State Development Bank.
