Former mayoral candidate Lin Shih-han to run for Chiayi City councilor with 'Little EU' party backing

Lin Shih-han, the convener of the "Little EU" (Small Citizen Participation Obasan Alliance) party, has announced her intention to run for a city council seat in the West District of Chiayi City. This marks her return to electoral politics after previously competing for the mayoralty in 2014.

Lin's candidacy is backed by the "Taiwan Forward Front," a political coalition formed by the New Power Party, the Small Citizen Participation Obasan Alliance, the Taiwan Statebuilding Party, and the Taiwan Green Party. The coalition will hold a press conference on August 3rd to formally endorse her campaign. This move completes the "Taiwan Forward Front's" electoral strategy for Chiayi City, as they have also endorsed Chen Yue-jin for the East District councilor position.

A graduate of the Department of Social Policy and Social Work at National Chi Nan University, Lin has been actively involved in community organizing. She co-founded initiatives such as the "Chiayi People's Democratic Forum," "Island Call Bookstore," and participated in events like the "Chiayi Bookish Life Festival" and the "Chiayi Rainbow Life Festival." Her previous mayoral campaign in 2014 garnered 2,747 votes.

In a social media post, Lin stated her intention to bring a "new voice" to the Chiayi City Council. She emphasized her commitment to youth participation in politics and her desire to build on her experience in public service within Chiayi. Lin aims to unite residents around shared aspirations for their city, focusing on human needs and advocating for a more responsive local government.
