Former Norway coach Lars Lagerbäck hospitalized after farm accident

Lars Lagerbäck, the 77-year-old Swedish former coach of the Norwegian national football team, recently experienced a dramatic accident on his farm that led to his hospitalization. The incident occurred a few weeks ago when Lagerbäck dislocated his hip while attempting to wash his lawnmower.

Describing the painful experience, Lagerbäck recounted, "They pumped me full of morphine." He was transported to the hospital by ambulance, accompanied by flashing blue lights, and is now using crutches. The injury happened when he moved into an awkward position while getting up, causing his hip joint to pop out.

During an interview with Expressen, Lagerbäck also shared his reflections on his tenure coaching the Norwegian team from 2017 to 2020. He characterized the squad as being "terribly run down," particularly mentally, and noted a significant amount of negativity between the media and the team.

Lagerbäck, who gave Erling Haaland his international debut, still regrets the 1-2 loss to Serbia in the 2020 European Championship playoffs. He also addressed a past conflict with player Alexander Sørloth, calling the situation exaggerated. Lagerbäck praised Sørloth's development and potential, describing him as a "physical monster" who could achieve great things if he utilizes his personality effectively.
