Former Pasir Puteh MP Datuk Che Min Che Ahmad dies at 79

Datuk Che Min Che Ahmad, who served as the Member of Parliament for Pasir Puteh under the Barisan Nasional coalition from 2004 to 2008, has died at the age of 79. His passing was announced on the afternoon of his death.

Today is the 100-day memorial for my late father. Allahyarham just returned from Bangi, Selangor this morning to attend the memorial reception for my father.

Family members discovered the former MP unconscious in his bathroom around 3 p.m. His grandniece, Nur Zirahaida Sohok, 37, recounted that the family became concerned when Che Min Che Ahmad did not attend a funeral reception. He had reportedly returned from Bangi, Selangor, that morning to attend the 100-day memorial for her father.

Nur Zirahaida mentioned that she had spoken to him that morning, and he had expressed feeling tired and declined breakfast, which was unusual for him. She described him as someone who was typically very attentive, active, and energetic despite his age.

This morning I managed to contact him and asked about breakfast, but he said he was tired and did not want to eat. Usually, Allahyarham is not like this because he is someone who is very attentive, active, and has never known fatigue even though he is old.

Upon realizing something was amiss, the family rushed to his home. They heard running water in the bathroom and, upon opening the door, found him unresponsive. Kelantan UMNO Chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Jazlan Yaakob remembered Che Min Che Ahmad as a figure who contributed significantly to society and the nation throughout his political career and public service.
