Former Pati Regent Sudewo to face corruption trial on June 15

Former Pati Regent Sudewo is set to face trial on June 15 for alleged corruption charges, including extortion and bribery. The proceedings will take place at the Semarang Corruption Court, according to Hadi Sunoto, spokesperson for the Semarang District Court. Sudewo faces accusations related to extorting village officials for their positions and accepting bribes for railway projects overseen by the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA).

Sudewo has been transferred to the Class I Semarang Correctional Institution to facilitate the trial process. The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has consolidated the files for two cases involving Sudewo into a single indictment. This move aims to streamline the legal proceedings for the former regent.

After the KPK prosecutor received the determination letter from the Semarang Tipikor District Court, the detention of the suspects was immediately transferred.

In addition to Sudewo, three other village officials, Abdul Suyono, Sumarjiono, and Karjan, are also implicated in the case. They have been transferred to the Class I Semarang Penitentiary. The KPK stated that the transfer of detainees is in accordance with legal provisions to ensure the smooth examination of defendants during the trial phase at the Semarang District Court.

As regulated in Article 104 Paragraph (1) of Law Number 20 of 2025 concerning KUHAP, the transfer of detention for these suspects is for the benefit of examining the defendants later in the trial phase at the PN Tipikor Semarang.
