Padang Police Postpone 2026 Traffic Operation Indefinitely

The Padang City Police in West Sumatra have postponed the "Operasi Patuh Singgalang 2026" traffic operation, which was slated to run from June 8 to June 21. The delay was issued following instructions from the National Police Headquarters (Mabes Polri).

AKP Riwal Maulidinata, Head of the Traffic Unit at Padang City Police, stated that the postponement is indefinite, pending further policy from the Korlantas Mabes Polri. Despite the suspension of the operation, the public is strongly advised to continue adhering to traffic regulations.

Even though the operation is not being carried out, drivers are asked to remain compliant and orderly with traffic rules.

Maulidinata emphasized the importance of self-awareness in obeying traffic laws, rather than compliance solely due to the presence of officers or ongoing operations. He noted that driver compliance in Padang still requires improvement, citing data from enforcement actions throughout 2026.

From January to May 2026, the Padang Police reported approximately 1,100 to 1,150 violations monthly. The majority of these violations, nearly ninety percent, were committed by motorcyclists. The police urge all road users to maintain discipline and order for their own safety and the safety of others.
