Former PM Lee Hae-chan's wife to chair party leader candidate's campaign

Chung Jin-rae, a former leader of the Democratic Party, announced that Kim Jung-ok, the wife of the late former Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan, will serve as the honorary chair for his bid to lead the party.

Knowing the details of the path Prime Minister Lee Hae-chan walked his entire life, I could tell she was a lifelong comrade who always talked and consulted with the prime minister.

Chung shared on Facebook that Kim possesses a detailed understanding of his husband's lifelong political journey, indicating she was a close confidante and advisor. He noted her guidance on campaign slogans and the professional presentation of campaign materials, stating she offered advice "beyond mere pleasantries."

She offered advice, such as what the election slogan should be and to make the campaign materials neat and professional, reflecting the Democratic Party's identity.

Chung felt as though he was hearing about the Democratic Party's past directly from Lee Hae-chan himself. He vowed not to do anything that would tarnish the former prime minister's reputation. He also pledged to carry forward Lee's spirit, who made significant contributions to the presidential campaigns of Kim Dae-jung, Roh Moo-hyun, Moon Jae-in, and Lee Jae-myung, by achieving "four-way integration" through his own campaign slogan.
