Former TV Channel Head Defends Kamchybek Tashiev Amidst Criticism

A former director of Region TV, Otkurбек Rakhmanov, has defended Kamchybek Tashiev, the former head of Kyrgyzstan's State Committee for National Security (GKNB). Rakhmanov accused critics of Tashiev of launching a smear campaign against him through social media.

According to Rakhmanov, a group of users has been spreading rumors, accusations, and offensive posts about Tashiev since February 10. He expressed surprise and regret that law enforcement agencies have not yet responded to these "provocative actions."

Rakhmanov suggested that certain groups are trying to exploit the current political climate to their advantage, particularly those who he believes are opposed to the current government. He also referenced ongoing investigations into high-profile cases, including those related to "Kyrgyzneftgaz" and the "letter of 75," stating that competent authorities should make the final judgment.

More importantly, they mock him, ridicule him, and spread any statements that come to their minds. Unfortunately, despite the fact that these people are increasingly intensifying their provocative actions, there has been no reaction from the relevant law enforcement agencies so far. This, of course, causes surprise and regret.

"The entire nation witnessed General Kamchybek Tashiev, along with President Sadyr Japarov, acting in the interests of the state and the people," Rakhmanov wrote. "Now everything depends on the work of the relevant bodies. He is not hiding and does not intend to hide."

The former TV channel head urged citizens not to give in to emotions and to remain calm until the investigations are concluded.
