Former YPFB Legal Director Arrested in Bolivia's 'Dirty Gasoline' Case

Daniela Durán, the former legal director of Bolivia's state-owned oil company Yacimientos Petrolíferos Bolivianos (YPFB), has been arrested in Santa Cruz as part of the ongoing investigation into the "dirty gasoline" case. Durán is currently being held at the Specialized Department for the Fight Against Corruption (Delcc) facilities in the Plan Tres Mil area.

The arrest was confirmed by prosecutor Luis Alberto Hurtado, who stated that Durán is under investigation for alleged dereliction of duty and conduct detrimental to the economy. Hurtado indicated that coordination is underway with the lead prosecutor in La Paz, where the case is primarily based, to decide whether Durán will be transferred to the capital for further legal proceedings.

While the investigation involves several individuals, Hurtado mentioned that more details regarding Durán's apprehension would be collected. The case, dubbed "gasolina basura" (dirty gasoline), centers on alleged irregularities within YPFB, though specific details of the alleged misconduct were not immediately available in the report.
