Foster child donates 40cm of hair to help children with cancer

A heartwarming act of generosity is unfolding in Pingtung, Taiwan, where a foster child known as Tangtang has decided to donate her long hair to children battling cancer. Tangtang, who will soon begin her first year of elementary school, chose to commemorate this milestone by cutting off approximately 40 centimeters of her hair, which she had grown for two years.

Her foster mother, Chen Buci, a dedicated hair donor herself having donated three times, introduced Tangtang to the concept of hair donation. After learning about children who lose their hair during cancer treatment, Tangtang, with tears in her eyes, asked if she could contribute her own hair. Her foster mother explained the commitment involved, noting that growing long hair requires patience and can be uncomfortable, especially in hot weather.

Tangtang, however, remained resolute. She understood the effort required and affirmed her willingness to endure the discomfort for the sake of helping others. This determination fueled her two-year journey of growing her hair, culminating in the recent haircut.

As the scissors snipped away her long locks, Tangtang expressed joy and anticipation rather than sadness. She saw the donation not just as a haircut, but as a personal gift of growth, learning the valuable lesson of sharing the love she has received. Her act of kindness sends a message of warmth and support to another child facing difficult circumstances, marking a beautiful beginning to her school journey.
