Four arrested for holding two youths in Venustiano Carranza; carried loaded firearm

Authorities in Mexico City's Venustiano Carranza borough have arrested four men suspected of kidnapping two individuals and possessing a loaded firearm. The incident began when two young people reported being accosted by several individuals after exiting a commercial establishment in the Roma neighborhood of Cuauhtémoc borough.

The victims stated that they were threatened with a pistol, physically and verbally assaulted, and then forced into a black van. Their assailants proceeded to rob them of their valuables. The suspects then drove the victims to the Moctezuma Segunda Sección neighborhood in Venustiano Carranza, where they were released.

Following a pursuit coordinated via the C2 Norte command center, police intercepted the suspects. A search revealed a handgun with three live rounds, cash, three bank credit cards, five cell phones, and a prepaid terminal. The four arrested men, aged 21, 23, 27, and 39, were positively identified by the victims.

One of the arrested individuals, a 23-year-old, has a previous record for intentional assault in 2019 and a civic court appearance for a brawl in 2022. The 39-year-old suspect was previously presented to the Public Ministry in 2018 for property damage. The victims were provided with support and guidance to file a formal complaint.
