Four arrested in Lautoka drug raids

Fiji's Western Division Joint Task Force has apprehended four people in Lautoka, suspecting them of unlawful possession of illicit drugs. The arrests followed two separate raids conducted on Monday in Tavakubu and Vio Road.

In Tavakubu, an 18-year-old student and a 24-year-old man were taken into custody after allegedly being found with white substances believed to be methamphetamine. These seized substances have been sent for analysis.

The successful raids are the result of intelligence sharing and information provided by members of the public.

A subsequent raid at Vio Road led to the arrest of a 38-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman. Police reported finding several plastic bags containing white substances suspected to be illicit drugs. Additionally, cash in both local and foreign currencies, believed to be proceeds from criminal activity, was confiscated.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations Kasiano Vusonilawe highlighted that these successful operations resulted from effective intelligence sharing and information provided by the public. He reiterated the police's appeal for continued public vigilance, urging citizens to report any drug-related activities by calling the toll-free number 1681.
