Four Dead in Taoyuan Car Crash After Family Attends Funeral Service

A tragic accident in Taoyuan City's Xinwu District claimed four lives and left two injured after a car collided with a truck. The victims were a group of family and friends who had just attended the funeral service for the father of the car's driver.

The driver, identified as a 60-year-old woman named Li, was reportedly operating her white sedan in the wrong lane on Zhongshan West Road Section 2. She then collided head-on with an oncoming truck. Li died at the scene. Three passengers in her car – identified as 74-year-old Li, 65-year-old Li, and 64-year-old Zhang – sustained severe injuries and were declared dead after emergency medical treatment. A fifth passenger, 61-year-old Yang, who was in the front passenger seat, survived with minor injuries. The 36-year-old truck driver, Hu, also suffered minor injuries and tested negative for alcohol.

The car body was severely deformed, and the accident resulted in a tragic four deaths and two injuries.

According to reports, the group had traveled from Hualien, New Taipei, and Taoyuan to attend the memorial service at the Zhongli Funeral Home. After the service, they were heading to a restaurant for a gathering. While other family vehicles arrived at the restaurant, Li's car never made it, having encountered the fatal accident en route. The surviving passenger mentioned that her husband was traveling in a separate car to the same gathering.
