Four Dead, Including Brothers, in Uruguay Route 8 Head-On Collision

A tragic head-on collision on Route 8 in the Treinta y Tres department of Uruguay has claimed the lives of four individuals, including two brothers. The accident, which involved a Brazilian-registered truck and a double-cab pickup truck, occurred Monday afternoon. Authorities confirmed the identities of the victims on Tuesday: a 46-year-old man, two 27-year-old brothers, and a 31-year-old man.

Emergency services, including police and forensic teams, responded immediately to the scene. The prosecutor on duty, along with police personnel, worked to determine the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash. The collision's severity resulted in the immediate death of all four occupants of the vehicles involved.

This incident is the latest in a series of deadly traffic accidents that have plagued Uruguay's national routes over the weekend. Earlier on Sunday, a 17-year-old motorcyclist died after colliding with a bridge railing on Route 31 in the Salto department. Hours later, another fatal accident occurred on Route 19 near Chuy in the Rocha department, where a car carrying four people veered off the road and overturned, killing one occupant and injuring three others. Investigations are ongoing into the causes of these separate incidents.
