Four injured after car hits rock on Romanian mountain road

Four individuals sustained injuries after their car collided with a rock on a mountain road in Romania's Ciucaș Mountains. The accident took place on the route linking Cabana Ciucaș to the Cheia resort in Prahova county.

Rescue operations presented significant difficulties due to the accident's location in a remote mountainous area, inaccessible to standard ambulances. Emergency services, including mountain rescuers and SMURD (Romania's emergency medical services), were mobilized to provide aid and transport the injured.

Initial reports indicate that six people were in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Four occupants suffered fractures and various traumas, while two escaped unharmed. The injured victims were conscious but presented with cranial trauma and fractures to their upper and lower limbs, according to Salvamont Prahova.

Rescuers worked to evacuate the injured to a point where ambulances could reach them. The exact causes of the accident are currently under investigation by the authorities. This incident occurred several years after a separate event where six lost hikers were safely rescued by mountain gendarmes in the same range.
