Four killed in 11-vehicle crash in Temerloh

Four people, including three members of the same family, died after an 11-vehicle collision near the Temerloh Toll Plaza exit on the East Coast Expressway 1.

The crash occurred at about 10 p.m. at Kilometer 110.4 and involved four cars, three sport utility vehicles, a multipurpose vehicle, a pickup truck, a tanker lorry and an express bus. All the vehicles were travelling from Kuala Lumpur towards Kuantan.

Mohd. Salahuddin Isa, assistant director of operations at the Pahang Fire and Rescue Department, said two drivers and two passengers died in the crash. Firefighters took more than an hour to free the victims, who became trapped inside their vehicles.

The victims who died in the crash were trapped inside the vehicles they were travelling in, and firefighters took more than an hour to remove them.

The tanker lorry driver and a man travelling in one of the SUVs suffered serious injuries. All 30 passengers on the express bus survived the collision.

The bodies were taken to Sultan Ahmad Shah Hospital in Temerloh for post-mortem examinations. Police are investigating the cause of the crash, and the victims had not yet been identified when the report was published.
