Four Minor Earthquakes Registered Across Colombia Early Saturday

Colombia experienced a series of minor seismic events early Saturday, July 18, 2026, as the Colombian Geological Service (SGC) reported four earthquakes across the country. The tremors, with magnitudes ranging from 2.6 to 3.9, were felt in several departments, including Antioquia, Santander, and Valle del Cauca.

The first earthquake occurred at 1:05 a.m. near Dabeiba, Antioquia, with a magnitude of 2.6 and a shallow depth of less than 30 kilometers. This was followed by a magnitude 3.1 tremor in Los Santos, Santander, at 2:33 a.m., at a depth of 156 km.

Later, at approximately 2:54 a.m., a magnitude 3.2 earthquake was registered in Buga, Valle del Cauca, at a depth of 161 km. The fourth and final recorded tremor had a magnitude of 3.9 and its epicenter was in the Pacific Ocean, 113 kilometers from Mosquera, Nariño.

Despite the multiple seismic events, the SGC confirmed that no material damage or injuries were reported, likely due to the low magnitudes and depths of the earthquakes. Some residents near the epicenters reported feeling the tremors lightly, while others received mobile alerts.
