Fourteen Philosophy Faculty Graduates Receive Degrees in Misiones

Fourteen new professionals received their degrees from the Philosophy Faculty of the National University of Asunción, or UNA, at its San Juan Bautista branch in Misiones.

The graduates completed studies in two fields: nine earned degrees in education sciences and five in communication sciences. The graduation ceremony took place at the Mangoré event hall of the Misiones government, attended by university authorities, lecturers, relatives and special guests.

The ceremony was led by UNA Vice Rector and acting Rector Miguel Wenceslao Torres Ñumbay and Nidia Rosa Mercado de Santander, dean of the Philosophy Faculty. Mercado de Santander said the graduation represented more than the completion of an academic stage. Each degree, she said, reflected years of effort, dedication, sacrifice and perseverance.

“Today, a path does not end, but a new stage of commitment to society begins,” Mercado de Santander told the graduates. She encouraged them to work with honesty, responsibility, human sensitivity and ethics.

Drawing on the thinking of Brazilian educator Paulo Freire, the dean said education should awaken awareness, encourage critical thinking and prepare people to accept responsibility and transform the reality around them. The 2025 graduating class was named “Centenary of the Faculty of Engineering” to honor 100 years of that UNA academic unit and to highlight the institution’s historical legacy.
