Fourth suspect detained in Stockholm school employee murder case

Swedish authorities have detained a fourth suspect in connection with the murder of a 26-year-old man in Hässelby, western Stockholm, on July 24. The latest detainee, a 17-year-old boy, was arrested on August 4 and subsequently detained on August 10 on probable cause for murder and aggravated weapons offenses.

Prosecutor Sarah Mattsson confirmed that all four individuals now in custody are held on the same charges. "It is extensive work that is ongoing. A lot of information needs to be gathered and processed. It is still early in the investigation. Even though we have four people detained, it is far from clear," Mattsson stated. The newly detained 17-year-old reportedly has no prior criminal record.

The investigation is exploring all angles, including potential links to gang-related crime, though Mattsson declined to comment on specific motives or the roles of the detained individuals at this early stage. The other three detained suspects include a 19-year-old man and two boys aged 15 and 16. The shooting occurred shortly before 8 PM on July 24, with witnesses reporting hearing five shots. The victim was employed at a school in Hässelby, where a crisis response team was initiated following the incident.
