France braces for new heatwave amid ongoing wildfires

France is bracing for a renewed heatwave beginning Tuesday, a development that complicates ongoing efforts to combat widespread wildfires. The new wave of high temperatures is expected to settle over the country, intensifying the dry conditions that fuel the blazes.

According to La Chaîne Météo, Tuesday will see sunny skies. While the morning may offer some respite, temperatures will climb rapidly in the afternoon across most of France. This heat, combined with existing drought conditions, will maintain a high risk of fires. Areas already ravaged by flames, especially in the southwest and near the Mediterranean coast where the mistral wind persists, will remain particularly vulnerable.

Morning temperatures are forecast to range between 15 and 20°C, slightly higher along the Mediterranean coast. By midday, thermometers will be climbing quickly. Most regions will see temperatures exceed 30°C, with highs of 31 to 34°C expected in central areas and the Paris region, where the capital could reach 32°C. The most intense heat is anticipated in Aquitaine and Occitanie, with local temperatures potentially hitting 34 to 37°C.
