France braces for return of summer heat as wildfires rage

France is set to experience a return to summer conditions on Monday, July 27, with rising temperatures and pleasant weather across much of the country. This respite follows significant wildfires in Gironde, which have led to the evacuation of 220,000 people and the burning of 42,000 hectares.

However, the pleasant weather is expected to be short-lived. By Tuesday, hot air from North Africa will move into Spain, France, and much of Central Europe. This influx of warm air is predicted to cause a rapid increase in temperatures, with highs potentially reaching between 35 and 40 degrees Celsius in many regions by Wednesday.
