France Deploys Military Aircraft to Combat Widespread Wildfires

France is deploying a modified military aircraft, the A400M, to combat the escalating wildfires ravaging the country. Equipped with a specialized firefighting kit, the aircraft can release 20,000 liters of water in mere seconds, providing crucial support to the civil security forces already engaged in battling the blazes.

The deployment comes as France grapples with extensive forest fires across several regions, including Gironde, Landes, Var, and Corsica. As of 2026, approximately 115,000 hectares of forest have been consumed by flames nationwide.
