Franco Colapinto Faces Hungarian Grand Prix Qualifying After Practice Crash

Franco Colapinto faces a crucial qualifying session for the Hungarian Grand Prix after a difficult start to the weekend. The Argentine driver crashed his Alpine car during Friday's practice, damaging the rear wing and protection structure. He managed to complete 30 laps in the final practice session, finishing 14th, just behind his teammate Pierre Gasly.

The Hungaroring circuit itself required emergency resurfacing overnight. FIA ordered repairs to sections worn down by practice, highlighting the track's challenging conditions. This comes after Colapinto expressed frustration on Friday, stating he lost the rear of the car and hit the barriers, resulting in a loss of track time and data.

Despite the setbacks, Colapinto is focused on improving the car's setup for qualifying. The session begins with Q1, where 22 drivers will compete for 18 minutes to set their best times, with the slowest six eliminated. Historically, pole position at the Hungaroring has not guaranteed a win, as the last five pole-sitters failed to secure victory.
