Free ORT preparation center opens in Osh

A new center offering free preparation for the General Republican Test (ORT) and subject Olympiads has opened in Osh, Kyrgyzstan. The facility is designed to support students throughout the year and also provides professional development opportunities for teachers.

Bakyтbek Almatov, head of the Osh City Education Department, stated that the center is equipped with 100 computers, enabling up to 100 students to study simultaneously. "Parents have different financial capabilities, and not everyone can afford to pay for their child's preparation in private centers," Almatov said. "We will prepare students from all schools in the city for free. If a child wants to study independently, search for information online, and prepare additionally, that option is also available for them."

The opening of this free center addresses the significant cost of private tutoring in Osh. Currently, preparation for the ORT at private centers ranges from 5,000 soms per month, with some exceeding 10,000 soms. The initiative aims to level the playing field for students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds.

Recent results show an improvement in student performance in Osh. This year, the average ORT score for graduates in the city increased by four points to 131. The number of graduates scoring above 200 points also rose from 92 last year to 129 this year, with one student achieving a "gold certificate."
